Making your own tall centerpieces is economical and means that you can customise the feature so that it looks just how you want it to! The key to making tall centerpieces is to keep them simple and open so as not to obstruct the view of seated dinner guests or create a too busy look that is distracting. Follow some of the following easy steps, and have all of your dinner guests commenting on your brilliant decorating skills!

• Tower vase
• Glass stones
• Optional-votive candles
Method
1. Select a tower vase for your tall centerpiece. Any type of vase will work as long as it is at least 8 to 12 inches tall.
2. Place a two-inch layer of glass stones in the bottom of the vase. Use either clear or colored stones to match the colors of the event or home decor you are decorating for. Fill the vase about 3/4 full of water.
3. Select long-stemmed flowers such as tulips, roses, Gerbera daisies, delphiniums, calla lilies or cymbidium orchids to use in the tall centerpiece. Measure the flowers to the outside of the vase and cut the stems to fit. Cut the stems at a 45-degree angle which allows better water absorption, keeping the flowers fresher longer.
4. Place the flowers in the tower vase arranging taller flowers in the center and slightly shorter flowers around the edges. Keep the arrangement open and not too full by using only three to five flowers for each centerpiece.
5. Place a small amount of baby's breath or Queen Anne's lace in between the flowers if desired. A couple curly willow branches placed behind the flowers in the vase is another option and creates a more modern look to the centerpiece.
